Habakkuk session 2: living in the ache of unanswered prayers.
Scripture: Habakkuk 1:12 – 2:1
For the woman who’s still waiting and wondering if God is listening.
⸻
Devotional
“Lord, are you not from everlasting?” — Habakkuk 1:12
Habakkuk reels from God’s answer. He doesn’t understand how a holy God can use a more evil nation to judge His own people. Still, he doesn’t harden his heart or turn away. He leans in.
His world feels upside down, but he clings to what he knows, not what he feels:
“My Holy One, we will not die.”
This is where faith clings in the dark. Even when logic fails. Even when prayers go unanswered. Then Habakkuk does something powerful. He says:
“I will stand at my watchpost… and look to see what He will say.” — Habakkuk 2:1
Sisters, this is faith on the edge. Not walking away.
But watching. Waiting.
Refusing to close the door just because Heaven hasn’t answered yet.
⸻
Waiting in History
God’s people would wait decades for justice. Babylon would rise and fall. But God’s word would prove true in time.
The faithful remnant held onto what was written… and it anchored them in exile. They didn’t just wait with hope, they waited with the Word in their hands!
So can we.

Worship in the Watchtower:
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
When you feel forgotten, this hymn becomes your watchtower song.

Sacred Rhythms:
Build a Waiting Basket.
Create a small basket filled with comforting, soul-nurturing tools: a notepad, cozy socks, herbal tea, hand lotion, Scripture cards, or a photo of an answered prayer.
Whenever you feel tempted to despair in the waiting, turn to this basket as a physical reminder to wait with God, not apart from Him.
Place Habakkuk 2:1 written down inside. A quiet reminder that waiting can be holy.

Journaling Prompts
1. What prayers of mine feel unanswered?
2. Do I still believe God is holy, even when I don’t see His hand?
3. What would it look like to stay near, even in the silence?

I Am — A Sacred Affirmation for the Waiting Soul
I am a daughter of the King,
grounded in truth, upheld by mercy.
I am not forgotten in the waiting.
I am being shaped, not shelved.
I am called to live still, not stagnant—
to sing in the silence, to trust in the dark.
I am strong in softness,
held in holy tension,
anchored in hope.
I am being led by a faithful God,
and I will see His goodness in the land of the living.

Whisper Prayer
God, I’m tired of waiting.
Sometimes I feel like You’ve forgotten me. But I choose to wait with hope. Meet me in the silence. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. (1 Samuel 3:10)
